About Me
CURRENT MISSION
How we spend our days is how we spend our lives. I want to spend them well!
ABOUT ME
I'm a 24 year old gay guy from South Wales in the UK and I'm on a year long career break! I was working as a science teacher for 2 years and saved up enough to allow me to travel the US, New Zealand and the Himalayas for about a year. At the time of writing this, I'm only 2 months into my trip, so plenty of time left (which means plenty of couches to seek out!!). I love exploring and meeting new people which is the main reason I want to couch surf. Love hearing people's stories and learning all the local insider knowledge about the areas I'm staying in, so load me up with your info! I have a blog I'm constantly updating with plenty of photos and the latest info about me on there to check out at www.danonthemove.tumblr.com
PHILOSOPHY
I'm going to sum up my philosophy in 3 of my favourite quotes from great people:
Oscar Wilde: "Most people become bankrupt through having invested too heavily in the prose of life. To have ruined oneself over poetry is an honour."
Thomas Monteleone: "The tragedy of life is not that men die, but rather that most allow their dreams to expire while they still live."
And my absolute all time favourite:
John Muir: "The mountains are calling and so I must go"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm brand spanking new to CS but it sounds too awesome not to try! Obviously I'm away from home for the next year or so so can't host yet but I plan to when I do make it home! Looking for couches/floors/generally sheltered areas to stay on across the US and New Zealand.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None so far but that's all about to change!!
Interests
Meeting new people, exploring, reading, science, hiking, cycling, badminton, skiing, eating out, eating in (hell I just love eating!!), museums and galleries, learning (in its broadest sense... seriously, I just enjoy absorbing new information), travelling, thrill sports, and a million other things that I just don't have room for! I will try anything once and am definitely on the search for new experiences!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is a huge part of my life as it is for many people. I've got a very broad range in tastes. I think the only genre I can't get into is screamo/death metal type stuff haha. Anything else is game! Love all kinds of movies but don't really get a chance to sit down and watch them anymore... a small luxury I miss! Being on the move so much now, my kindle is my world. If you know of any great books let me know! My collection is always in need of updating.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most recent thing I'm most proud of is successfully hiking to the top of Half-Dome in Yosemite, the top of Angels Landing in Zion and completing the Bright Angel trail which goes down into the grand Canyon. Considering I'm no good with heights, I think I did pretty well!
Teach, Learn, Share
If you want to talk Science (which you probably don't!) I'm your man! I also love sharing things about Wales and our culture, and I can even pass on some of the Welsh language on! Very...VERY basic Welsh.
