About Me

CURRENT MISSION

experience and enjoy life

ABOUT ME

Hey there-
I work as a software game developer for a company that makes slot machines. It's definitely an interesting gig, and I've been at it for over 10 years now. The schedule can be hectic at times, but I enjoy the technical/creative nature of the work, and the challenges that come with it.

When not slaving away at the office, you'll usually find me on a long bike ride, running along Chicago's lakefront path, at a cafe, pub, seeing live music, hanging out with friends and family... or traveling.

When I travel, I often just spend the day wandering aimlessly (with or without a destination in mind) through a new city, which always leads me to interesting places. I'm not much for the loud and crowded nightlife, but could spend all day at a cozy pub or cafe, and all night at a leisurely dinner.

Since I've been at my job a while, I've accumulated the ability to take a decent amount of vacation time, and often find myself traveling solo, so thought I'd check out the CS project. Look forward to meeting fellow CS'ers, local and abroad.

cheers-

PHILOSOPHY

I relish simple pleasures, such as the first sip of a tasty latte or pint (all the sips are good of course, but the first is always the best). Nothing is more important to me than time spent with my closest friends and family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm relatively new to the CS project, and still checking it out. Mostly interested in just meeting up for coffee/drinks/dinner. When I travel solo, I like having my own space so will look for a unique hotel or airbnb apt to call home, but use CS to meet up with others - hitting up message boards for cities I'll be visiting, and reaching out to CS'ers individually that would be interesting in meeting up.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Picnic in the park in Barcelona, World Cup on the waterfront in Copenhagen, an amazing Midsummer Day celebration in Stockholm, great conversation all around.

Interests

Traveling (of course), photography, biking, music (playing guitar/piano, listening to, seeing shows). Enjoy taking random classes such as acting, pottery, cooking, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - a list of fav movies, directors, and genres: Hithcock, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, silent films, dark comedies, Wes Anderson, Michel Gondry, documentaries, mockumentaries, Christopher Guest, Timothy Burton, Pixar

Music - where do I begin? I love music, and my taste is all over the map. Check out kexp.org which both play a lot of what I enjoy, old and new. Radiohead and Sigur Ros are my two favorite bands. Other favs include Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Jeff Buckley, Elliot Smith, Stereolab, I could go on and on...

Books - Was recently on a non-fiction kick, and read all of Michael Pollan's books (Omnivore's Dilemma, etc), and particularly enjoyed David Byrne's Bicycle Diaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While traveling solo in Paris, I was chilling out on the lawn of the Eiffel Tower during sunset, when a crowd of a few hundred people gathered and started forming a giant torch-lit peace sign. I ended up joining in, holding a torch, and although I couldn't understand a word of the speeches that were being given (don't speak French), everyone was really nice, and it was a really wonderful moment.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Barbados, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
