About Me
Have been, and will again, be away from Vienna a lot recently so really need some home-time before hosting again. Happy to give tips and a link to my favourite locations in Vienna though. Just pm me :)
CURRENT MISSION
Take risks, regret nothing, live life to the fullest!
ABOUT ME
After graduating in Australia, I moved to Vienna where I've now lived for nearly six years. In 2016 I started a business which isn't going quite as expected but am taking advantage of being bilingual and getting odd jobs here and there. From being a pub quiz master to teaching English at schools and translating for an international software firm, every bit of experience is a notch in my belt. Though I've lived most of my life in Australia and therefore identify myself as Aussie, I was born in Vienna so I can speak German.
My girlfriend, Holly and I have been together for almost four years and after spending 4 weeks and 4,500 km on road tripping through Australia in Feb 2016, we want to see as much of the world together as possible. The thing I enjoy most of all is hanging out with good friends and I guess that makes me a very social person. I love to get to know places, preferably from the perspective of the locals.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I got into CS when staying with an exchange student when I first came to Sweden for my own exchange. We ended up becoming really good mates and hang out a lot. The references show you where I've used it and from where my guests have been.
Interests
Everything interests me. Thev saying "A jack of many trades but a master of none" probably describes me pretty well. I try new things whenever I can but don't usually have the time to master it, which is a shame because many of them are good fun. Camping is something that I enjoy a lot, especially if someone talented enough to play guitar is there to create a relaxed atmosphere around the fire. I'm a pretty active person and go to gym regularly but I find that gets boring quickly so also play a variety of sports that don't cause to much strain on my ankle, which has been injured for 7 years and no doctor can tell me why. I've had a road bike for a while now which I often use to ride to work, mountain biking on weekends. I love food...not only eating it but also cooking it and sharing it at dinners with friends.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm very open to anything when it comes to movies and music...really depends on my mood or the people I'm with. The same goes for food. Although Holly is vegetarian I'm partial to a hearty steak. I've eaten everything from raw vegan to deep fried tarantulas and don't judge anybody for their dietary preferences (nor their religious beliefs or sexual orientation - just no racist, narrow minded biggots please).
Holly and I both prefer going to pubs over clubs, I think I clubbed myself out when I was younger. That's not to say if there is a cool techno party or something that I can't be convinced to go ;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The best holiday I've ever taken was with my exchange friends to Lapland. Finish sauna, dog sledding, snow mobiles. Have to recommend it to anyone that gets the opportunity!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to try new things that put me out of my comfort zone so am usually up for anything crazy people throw at me.
