CURRENT MISSION

I love to learn, about everything I can. So, I would say that my current mission is to learn as much as possible, especially about photography and design. I would like to get better skills on those areas. Especially, I am trying to improve my portrait skills, so if you are not shy I would love to portrait you!

ABOUT ME

I am a quiet person, I prefer to listen and to observe, nevertheless, I enjoy to meet new people and learn about them. Because of that, at the moment, I have a couple of long standing photography projects in Downtown San Salvador. There I meet new people everyday, I portrait them or sometimes we just talk. It is very interesting to get to know part of their lives and how they see the world. Ironically, I don't like to be portrayed, I am the guy behind the camera ;)

For living, I teach in a university, I mainly teach audiovisual design and photography. It is funny that even I come from a family of teachers, I didn't want to become a teacher. I remember my father working really long and hard hours, but here I am teaching. I guess one can't run away from what one really is. At the moment, I enjoy it a lot. Even the administrative part of my job is hard, I find teaching being very revealing. It showed me how much I still need to learn.

I like to leave the city as much as I can. I enjoy nature and peacefulness. I prefer the mountains than the beach. The hot weather is not really my thing.

I am a decent desserts cook, even I try not to eat them too often.

PHILOSOPHY

I look for peace through photography. Taking pictures makes me happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it is a good opportunity to meet locals while traveling and to meet new people when I am at home. But honestly, I haven't been very active, but I guess now I would like to try it more.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy movies like 500 days of Summer, Big Fish and Inception.

I like almost every kind of music, I listen to music in many languages even if I don't understand it. I just like the rhythm

My favorite book is The Little Prince. I collect it in different languages. I love this book because it reminds me to my childhood, but mainly because I find it very deep (I know, for some people it is just a children's book, but I have learn a lot from it), besides that it is somehow related to my country. Mr. Saint-Exupery was married to a salvadoran woman.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While living in Switzerland, I made a short apprenticeship in an refugee's center. I was able to choose between office work and outdoors tasks. I chose outdoors tasks. The refugees worked building hiking paths or camping stations in the mountains. It was amazing the we were able to build something together even we didn't share a common language, there were people from Nigeria, Eritrea, Tibet and Afghanistan. We weren't able to speak to each other, but we managed to understand each other.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to teach some photography or just share experiences would be ok as well.

I can also cook some desserts, my favorite dessert to cook -and eat- is Tiramisú.
