ABOUT ME

I caught the travel bug as a kid and have created many memories visiting places in the U.S. and abroad. My favorite aspect about visiting a new place is meeting new people and experiencing the sites, culture and food with locals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to meet up with people both where I live in New York City and while I am traveling, and also hope to find some CSers that I can stay with during my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couchsurfing.com but am not new to the concept. I enjoy meeting people each place that I travel and sharing stories, experiences and cultures, and I've also enjoyed meeting people who are visiting where I am, especially since I now live in New York City.

Since I am new to CS.com I can provide references and additional information, if needed.

TV:

The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, True Detective, Orphan Black, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, The Mindy Project

Movies:

There is no possible way to list all of my favorite movies, but it can safely be said my taste is varied enough to include West Side Story, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Oldboy, Fargo, and Chasing Amy.

Books:

Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Battle Royale (yes)... many many more

Music:

I have no idea what other kids my age grew up listening to, but my parents had me listening to a heavy rotation of Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, Tim Buckley, Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell and R.E.M.

Other music that has stuck with me since childhood and a bit later includes Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones, and Cyndi Lauper.

More recent loves are Basia Bulat, Ben Howard, Daughter, Florence + the Machine, Laura Marling, Santigold, and very recently: Valerie June, Sylvan Esso.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A bustling metropolitan center in East Africa. Rolling hills of tea plants in northwest Uganda. The San Juan Islands in northern Washington, at the border with Canada, with clear, still water as far as you can see. Beautiful waterfalls in Oregon. So many, many more wonderful memories.

Teach, Learn, Share

Language: I am a native English speaker and have basic proficiency in French and Spanish, which I am always attempting to improve. :)

Food: I love food and cooking - learning new recipes and sharing recipes with others, exposing people to new foods that they have not tried before.

Outdoors/active: I enjoy hiking and being outdoors and would like to learn to do many more outdoor activities!
