About Me
Hey! I’m Dasha, a 22-year-old from Ukraine who’s been on the move for the past few years, living and traveling in different places. I love the feeling of arriving somewhere new, meeting people, and getting to know a place beyond the tourist spots.
Right now, I’m doing my master’s in European Studies and spending a semester in Bilbao. I’m always up for a good conversation, spontaneous adventures, or just sharing a meal and stories. I believe the best way to experience a place is through the people you meet along the way.
Looking forward to connecting! 😊
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I decided to use Couchsurfing because I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know new cultures from within. Well, another reason is that I’m a broke student who can’t live without traveling))) But I like the idea of helping strangers, meeting friendly people worldwide, and creating beautiful memories together.
Music, Movies, and Books
I absolutely adore listening to Ukrainian music, so I would recommend getting to know at least such bands as Okean Elzy and Odyn v Kanoe. In terms of movies and books, I like thrillers. I used to read many of Steven King’s books when I was at school. I’m busy writing my final bachelor's paper, so I mostly read scientific articles and research.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
If I had to choose, I’d say my volunteering experiences have been the most incredible. I’ve worked with kids and teenagers in Sicily, taught English in Sri Lanka, and supported youth projects in Turkey. Each experience has been life-changing—immersing myself in new cultures, learning from the people around me, and somehow feeling at home even when I was thousands of kilometers away. It’s amazing how quickly you can become part of a community, no matter where you are in the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share some insight into Ukrainian culture and everyday life now with my hosts if they are interested. During the last few years, I used to study in 4 different universities: 2 in Ukraine, 1 in Canada, and 1 in Germany, so I can describe the experience of studying and living in such different cultures. Tell all about their pros and cons. After all, I will be happy to be of any help and spend some time together if they are up for it.
