About Me
Hi!
It is so good to get back here. I am sorry for not answering many of the messages I have received lately. I was completely oblivious to those since I have removed all the notifications and emails because of the pandemic.
I live in Longueuil, not directly in Montreal, but its south shore 15 minutes away. I am a high-energy, curious, passionate and happy person who wants to enjoy the life we were granted as much as possible. I love having deep conversations, debating ideas and learning new things about all kinds of topics. I have embarked on the travelling bandwagon, now that I have figured out there are ways to do it more cheaply, but especially more personable than ever before. Therefore, I am more than happy helping other travelers do the same.
My first language is French, I speak English and I do get around in Spanish.
ABOUT REQUESTS
First, here are great links on how to write a great request:
https://projecthustle.org/couchsurfing/how-to-write-a-great-request
https://blog.couchsurfing.com/the-7-deadly-sins-of-couchsurfing/
Everyone is different, but 3 reasons that personally can make me doubt, ignore, or directly refuse a request are:
-you are a guy, have plenty of reviews, but strangely almost all of them are from women;
-you have a gazillion pictures (or not enough, same difference), but none of them show your face clearly;
-your message definitely shows you did not read the home section.
I think these are self-explanatory, but if you really feel like you need those explained, ask me...
Please, spell my name right if you write me. I am always AMAZED by the creativity people demonstrate in misreading and misspelling such a simple name.
Also, I take the time to keep a reasonably complete and updated profile, as I enjoy when others do too.
I understand that not everyone is a writer. I get it.
Still, make a little effort when you send a message. Just a little... This is not instant messaging. As this platform suggests, a personalized request showing you read my profile and know why you are sending me one will make the chances of receiving a positive response greater. Otherwise it's very possible that the effort you put in, is reflected in the answer you receive. Or none. It's only legitimate. ;-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really enjoy meeting new people, who are very different from me and from places and with experiences I could never imagine! It's so enriching, I love it.
Couchsurfing is a great opportunity for exchanges and experiences of all sorts. I do have a regular job that keeps me busy 40 hours weekly, but it does not stop me. I do my best to make myself available when I can host.
What I am NOT on Couchsurfing for:
-finding my future husband;
-writing invitation letters for visa applicants.
You've been warned ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy pretty much all music, but just like any normal human being, I do have my preferences: they usually involve being able to shake my hips! Since I am naturally very interested in popular culture (from any country, actually), I enjoy pop music a lot.
I am not much of a movie watcher, but if someone drags me to the movie theater, I usually gladly follow. There are still a few movies that come to mind that I have a real appreciation for: Children of Men, Forrest Gump, Un dimanche à Kigali, Intouchables, Dead Poets' Society, Never Ending Story... I am clearly forgetting some, but never the classic Walt Disney animated movies!! I will NEVER tire of watching them.
I watched the movie Me before you again with my guest Naoi... and we balled our eyes out together, hugging each other!! I remember crying the first time, but... How can you make movies like this!?!? What's that!?! They want to kill us with sadness too?!?! My poor heart...!
When it comes to books, I admit I do not read so much anymore since I am a huge TV junkie, but I have read a lot; my studies have added to that. If there is no TV anywhere in sight however, I can devour books like candy. Books I will forever cherish are Roots, by Alex Haley, Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell (there are a few others I am not thinking about at the moment I am writing this).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The one thing I can think of now is taking a chicken bus from Chichicastenango to Quetzaltenango in Guatemala: I did not know what I was in for. I thought we were ALL going to die. The buses as such are not the issue, but the way and speed they drive in the mountains on super narrow roads...!! I thought it was ridiculous. I thought we were all going to die. Which was highly unlikely, since all of the people in there were dozing off, being used to it. Trying to keep my cool, I pretended to sleep too, because looking out the window while the bus took those curves at such a ridiculous speed, I was going to pass out!!! Yeah. Never again.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am open-minded and I love to learn, so anything that can make me wiser and brighter, I welcome.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a very respectful person: I treat others as I want to be treated. I have knowledge about a bit of stuff, but I'm most certainly sure that I know nothing at all! So I am always ready to learn anything and everything. What I feel I really have to offer is a true, honest and nice encounter. Just really, thanks for hosting me if you do.
