I am Darío, I am 37 years old and I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I currently live in Alicante, Spain since 2019. Currently, my partner Andrea and I are planning a trip to China and Taiwan in March. She is Spanish, from Valencia, she is 30 years old, she is an engineer and studies Chinese and would very much like to practice the language with local people. She also really likes sports and plays Frisbee. Moreover he plays the violin and the ukulele.

In 2015, tired of the routine, I decided to start traveling, first through New Zealand and Australia where I lived for 2 years and then I continued my trip through Asia where I was volunteering in different countries. I also toured Latin America for several months using Couchsurfing. I think it is a totally different way of traveling and much more enriching, since one can learn and get to know the people and culture of each country more closely.

Ella es española, de Valencia, tiene 30 años, es ingeniera y estudia chino y le gustaría mucho practicar el idioma con gente local. También le gustan mucho los deportes y juega al Frisbee. En 2015 cansado de la rutina, decidí comenzar a viajar, primero por Nueva Zelanda y Australia donde estuve viviendo 2 años y luego continué mi viaje por Asia donde estuve haciendo voluntariados en diferentes países. También recorrí Latinoamérica durante varios meses usando Couchsurfing. Pienso que es una manera totalmente diferente de viajar y mucho más enriquecedora, ya que uno puede aprender y conocer más de cerca a las personas y la cultura de cada país.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the last years I decided to find a meaning to my life, and that is why I started traveling around the world, looking for my place, knowing new cultures, sharing moments and experiences and learning from each person I know in each place where I travel.

What I enjoy most of using couchsurfing is that I can live with local people in each city or town that I am, sharing my knowledge and experiences, learning from their culture and knowing their traditions.

In New Zealand for example I was living with three Kiwi families and it was a great experience. Later in my travels through Australia and Asia I did the same, and it was great because one learns to adapt to a totally different language and culture.

I want to continue knowing new places and people and their cultures. That is the best part of the trip!

En los últimos años me propuse encontrarle un sentido a mi vida, y es por eso que comencé a viajar por el mundo, buscando mi lugar, conociendo nuevas culturas, compartiendo momentos y experiencias y aprendiendo de cada persona que conozca en cada lugar donde viaje.

Lo que más disfruto de usar couchsurfing es que puedo convivir con gente local en cada ciudad o pueblo al que llegue, compartiendo experiencias, aprendiendo de su cultura y conociendo sus tradiciones.

En Nueva Zelanda por ejemplo estuve conviviendo con tres familias kiwis y fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora. Después en mis viajes por Australia y gran parte de Asia hice lo mismo, y fue genial ya que uno aprende a adaptarse a un idioma y una cultura totalmente diferentes.

Quiero seguir conociendo nuevos lugares, personas y culturas. Esa es sin dudas la mejor parte del viaje!

Interests

I really like music, especially Rock, although I also listen to other completely different styles like tango, Latin American music, electronic or cumbia. I am also a musician and I play drums and I like all kinds of percussion instruments. I always carry a flamenco box musical instrument with me, and I would like to meet other musicians and play diverse music! Now I am playing the peruvian box in a band here in Alicante with musicians from different parts of the world, and we make music in the street and we also play in bars and pubs.

I am passionate about history and politics, and I like to read a lot and interested me about the reality of the place where I travel. I like to go for a walk and meet new people.

Furthermore I enjoy a lot getting together with friends to have good times. Food is something that I love too. I really enjoy trying all kinds of new foods, and I think that in them one finds a lot of the culture and tradition of each town. It is a great means to connect and know much more to each person.

Another thing that I love are tattoos and body piercings. I am a professional piercer and wherever I travel I always carry with me the tools to be able to work!

Me gusta mucho la música, en especial el Rock, aunque también escucho otros estilos totalmente distintos como tango, música latinoamericana, electrónica o cumbia. Además, soy músico, toco la batería y me gustan todo tipo de instrumentos de percusión. Llevo conmigo un cajón flamenco y me gustaría poder juntarme con otros músicos a tocar música diversa!. Actualmente estoy tocando el cajón en una banda aquí en Alicante con músicos de diferentes partes del mundo, y hacemos música en la calle y además tocamos en bares y pubs.

Soy un apasionado de la historia y la política, y me gusta leer mucho e interesarme acerca de la realidad del lugar a donde viajo. Me gusta salir a caminar y conocer gente nueva.

Por otro lado, disfruto mucho de juntarme con amigos a pasar buenos momentos. La comida es algo que me apasiona también. Disfruto mucho de probar todo tipo de nuevas comidas, y considero que en ellas uno encuentra mucho de la cultura y la tradición de cada pueblo. Es un gran medio para conectarse y conocer mucho más a cada persona.

Otra de las cosas que me apasionan son los tatuajes y los body piercings. Soy colocador profesional de body piercing y a donde viajo siempre llevo conmigo las herramientas para poder trabajar!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music, so I like listen the music of every place I go, and I also enjoy watching live music and listening to street or independent musicians.

I really like documentary films and Latin American cinema, although I also enjoy watching classic films.

I love reading about history, politics and geography and I am also very interested in the UFO subject.

Me apasiona la música en general, por lo que me gusta conocer y escuchar la música de cada lugar al que voy, y también disfruto de ver música en vivo y de escuchar a músicos callejeros o independientes.

Me gusta mucho el cine documental y el cine latinoamericano, aunque también disfruto de ver películas clásicas.

Me apasiona leer sobre historia, política y geografía y además me interesa mucho la temática ovni.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Start traveling is the most incredible thing I could have done.

I have done jobs that I could never have imagined, very different from those I did in my country. And meet great people across the map, with which today I have a great friendship.

Comenzar a viajar es lo mas increíble que pude haber hecho.

Haber hecho trabajos que jamas hubiera imaginado, muy diferentes a los que realizaba en mi país. Y conocer grandiosas personas a lo largo y ancho del mapa, con las cuales hoy en día tengo una gran amistad.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to share part of my culture, my knowledge and my travel stories, and receive the same from the people that I can meet on the trip, it is something extremely fantastic. I really enjoy the cultural exchange!

One of my goals is to learn to speak Italian, at the moment I am only learning with Duolingo!

I would also like to participate in a cultural space. Here in Alicante I participate in a neighborhood social organization doing music and art workshops, debate film cycles, helping people in the neighborhood, among other activities.

Me gusta poder compartir parte de mi cultura, mis conocimientos y mis historias de viaje, y recibir lo mismo de las personas que uno conoce en el viaje, es algo sumamente fantástico. Disfruto mucho del intercambio cultural!

Una de mis metas es aprender a hablar italiano, por el momento solo estoy aprendiendo con Duolingo!

Además me gustaría participar de algún espacio cultural. Aquí en Alicante participo en una organización social barrial realizando talleres de música y arte, ciclos de cine debate, ayuda a la gente del barrio, entre otras actividades.
