About Me
My name is David Rosset. I am 31 years old. I was born in France. I grew up in France and discovered China when i entered university. I then started to learn Chinese and to study various contemporary aspects of that country. It was the beginning of a long road on which I kept walking and which brought me here in Beijing. I live in the Chinese capitale city, where i work as an editor and translator in a media, since 2015.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As i was registering on the website i was surprised to discover that i am a member since 2007. I was obviously not very active but it seems that i was already interested by the concept. More than ten years later I am back. The first reason is that i will be traveling around China for few months with my girlfriend next year. I don't know yet if couchsurfing is very popular (or even legal) in China but i will find out quickly. I like the idea of staying for a night or two at someone's place without any money involved. I experienced it in 2016 with a french friend of mine with who i traveled around Taiwan. I really liked it. I found the people who welcomed us very generous, very curious and very interesting. I wish myself and my girlfriend can experience this together next year. In the meanwhile our apartment is open in Beijing to other members who would like to stay.
Interests
I love reading. I mostly read books related to China. It can be a novel or an academical work. I am eager to know always more about this country, to know more about the reality of modern China. That's also why i live in Beijing since almost four years now.
I also like to social sciences books and that is certainly related to my studies when i lived in Lyon, France.
I really like to take pictures, to edit them and to share them on different social medias.
I love to run and i try to do more than twice a week.
I love cinema and i keep watching what we call classics to be sure that i saw most of these treasures.
I love trekking, walking in a natural environment, until the body needs a rest. Our trip through China will offer us that pleasure. I can't wait.
I like animals and especially since I met my girlfriend's dog. Christmas, that's her funny name, really helped me to open my mind and better understand the importance of cherishing their presence.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Together with a french friend I traveled around Taiwan only by hitchhiking and couch surfing. It went really well from beginning to the end. I was surprised how generous people were with us. We didn't have to wait long before someone would stop to pick us up. I was not used to that way of traveling but i loved it. The way all these people helped us and welcomed us was very inspiring.
