oh, I really think absolutely everything depends on situation, and we shouldn't create rules and believe in it without thinking every time. but I'm normal and I use a lot of not straight rules every day because in most moments they are useful.
what I believe to do more than other things:

increase the amount of good in the world is more important than to be right

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

mostly I want to walk and talk with foreigners and I really like to show places I love.
I'm not often ready to give someone a place to sleep, also I change cities now (Novosibirsk, Moscow, Tomsk) and I'm not sure where I will be)
and I dream sometime to go somewhere and use this site like a guest in someones place)
