About Me

=PORTRAIT

Type of personality: talkative, introverted, caring, philosopher, nature lover, idealistic, diligent, peacekeeper, spontaneous, funny, seeker of harmony. My type of character, all details: https://www.16personalities.com/infp-personality.

My blog: https://peakd.com/@x-rain
You can find there even my biography post: https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@x-rain/from-brezhnev-time-to-web-30-my-belated-introduction-post (you don't have to read it :DD)

= BACKGROUND

Born in Georgia (country), lived in Russia. Have traveled for many years, mostly Southeast Asia + South Asia. Left Russia in 2022 No clear plans for future.

Political beliefs: trial and fair punishment for Putin for all his crimes.

= MY CURRENT TRAVEL

Mission: street photography, travel photography, cat photography :)

I started in 2022 (after a break during the pandemic). I went on a train + bus from Saint Petersburg, Russia to Tbilisi, Georgia. In January 2023, I had a flight from Tbilisi to Bangkok. I was based in the Thai capital for a year +. In 2023-2024, I also visited Ko Lipe, Krabi, Ko Lan, and Pattaya in Thailand, Xepon and Savannakhet in Laos, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Phnom Penh and Battambang in Cambodia.

= COUCHSURFING IN MY LIFE

I've hosted a dozen of couchsurfers in St.Petersburg, Russia. Anna and Fab returned to my place to see me again. I met Agata who had stayed at my place during traveling in Georgia. Anna became my close friend and we traveled together to Serbia where we hosted couchsurfers in an apartment we rented.

Since 2011, I used to travel staying mostly at hostels so I stopped hosting.

I have surfed only once but it was a unique experience. 2019, Egis from Lithuania let every couchsurfer come and live as long as they wanted at his apartment in Phnom Penh. The place usually had 20+ travelers staying at the same time. Newcomers could sleep on couches and on yoga mats, while veterans chose to sleep in chairs :D People used to spend evenings talking on the balcony or playing guitars in the large hall (which served as the sleeping area at night), there was a kitchen there as well to cook and share... It was a real commune with people coming and going. I've spent 16 unforgettable days there and met A LOT of great people.

Interests

- I blog about traveling and photography on Hive blockchain: https://peakd.com/@x-rain
- I play a TCG blockchain game (Gods Unchained)
- I sell images on photo stocks. Some of them appear in printed books like Lonely Planet guides
- I love taking images of street scenes with random people - street photography
- Taking images of street cats is another passion of mine
- I love nature and hiking in the wild
- I love learning/reading about cultures and languages
- I love playing ukulele and trying to sing but I am not a musician and I have no good voice. For that reason, I left my uku at home more than a year ago and miss it much

Music, Movies, and Books

When I was younger I had a list of favorite everything, but no now. But to give you an idea what I might like I'll share some (quite random) list of stuff...

BOOKS: Chekhov, Tennessee Williams, Leonid Andreev, Tarjei Vesaas, Kafka, Platonov. Dostoevsky is a good one but I don't share his beliefs. I read what I find nice - fiction, non-fiction... My last book was Seven Taoist Masters, a Medieval Chinese Taoist novel. I re-read it actually. Amazing!

MOVIES I loved in my life: Woody Allen movies, Xavier Dolan movies (Les Amours Imaginaires, etc), Amelie, Fear and Loathing in Las-Vegas, Truman Show, Fullmetal Jacket, The Dreamers (by Bertolucci), Lost in Translation, Back to the Future, Dust (Russia), Colour Me Kubrick, Idioterne (Lars von Trier), Cidade de Deus (City of God), American Splendor (I loved American Beauty either but it was too long time ago), Lord of the Rings.

SERIES:

What We Do in the Shadows.

I loved Games of Thrones and Breaking Bad.

Supernatural and The Walking Dead were my favorites until I got tired of them.

MUSIC:

I listen to this and that... rock-n-roll, rock, and pop music... and other genres too.

I can mention music bands and singers that were important during my life: Cranberries, Radiohead, Bjork, Doors, Jamiroquai, Katie Melua, Scott Matthew, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Zaz, Nino Katamadze (Georgia) and so on.

I like Russian rock: Ноль, Наутилус, Кино, Аукцыон, Чиж.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Macedonia, Malaysia, Montenegro, Nepal, Russian Federation, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
