Overview
About Me
I'm a pretty relaxed person who doesn't take life too seriously and mostly just tinker in whatever new hobby interests me at the time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've generally travelled with friends who prefer hostels, but recently got married and my wife and I want to get more exposure to local culture when we travel. Meeting interesting people has always been the highlight of all my trips. Couchsurfing seems like a great way to accomplish just that!

Interests
I spend my time reading, watching TV/movies, playing board and video games, and hanging out with friends. I've been known to venture into the great outdoors on occasion, but that usually requires a push from my friends. In the past few years I've spent a fair amount of time trying to learn Japanese (and a little Dutch), often trying to incorporate my interests in the learning process.
A year ago while helping Japanese speakers practice English (in hopes of practicing a little Japanese), I met the wonderful woman who would end up becoming my wife. In a fun twist my wife isn't Japanese, she's Persian! So now my language learning focus has shifted in that direction and I get to experience a whole new culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a pretty typical nerdy love for a wide range of fantasy and scifi, both in written and TV/movie forms. Hitchhiker's Guide, the Foundation series, Game of Thrones and various Vonnegut books rank among some of my favourites.
I tend to listen to whatever music the people I'm living with listen to, which has covered a fairly broad rock/pop spectrum, though has yet to touch on metal, dance or country.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a genuine interest in local customs and culture, and someone to practice English with.
