About Me

I enjoy meeting new people, seeing new places, and learning new things. Likewise, I enjoy sharing the hidden gems I've found to share with other people. I've long enjoyed good beer, good company, and good food, and the rise of craft brewing in the States really is exciting. I've also started brewing my own beer, as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In addition to the financial benefits (of staying on someone's couch) and the good karma (of hosting), I really am looking forward to meeting people from around the world and learning more about them. Especially as I stay in new places, I look forward to the opportunity to learn about the cities I'm visiting. The locals know the hidden gems that the internet and hotel concierges don't often mention.

Interests

First and foremost, I'm an aviation nut. I can talk about flying, airplanes, and aerospace for hours on end. I'm also a runner, and find it's a completely different way to explore the "same old" places when traveling. The experience at 6mph is much different than at 40mph in a car. You notice small shops, bars, and restaurants that previously were just a blur, and these are often hidden gems.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to just about any music and enjoy nearly any movie. I am especially fond of jazz, usually with a good glass of wine or a fantastic beer to go along with it. My favorite movies include Apollo 13 (remember, aerospace nut), The Blind Side, and The Green Mile. I've gotten into reading Stephen King books, and have long enjoyed John Grisham novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Earlier this year I went hang gliding over the mountains of Tennessee. The quiet simplicity of flight was spectacular, and I'd love to learn to do it regularly.
