About Me

I'm that boy that wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up. I'm also the one who never really wanted to grow up. So now I'm studying aerospace engineering so that I can be an astronaut anyway. Because dreams don't have to change when you get older.

I did my undergraduate degree at the Canadian Military College, where I was possibly the least conforming person to the military stereotype. I'm skinny and quiet, and yet I somehow managed to succeed and thrive there. Probably because they let me do engineering in the air force branch.

Outside of school and work I enjoy flying, both model airplanes and real ones, board games, and camping. I just moved cities and so I also enjoy biking around and exploring. My specialty is finding tiny restaurants and book stores.

My sister refers to me as a low-stress houseguest when I stay with her. Having gone through military training means that I don't need much besides a place to lie down, although a pillow is nice, and that the bed will be made with precision when I leave. I'm always courteous and respectful and aim to make my stay as easy as possible for anyone I stay with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My brother and I are going to do a bike trip across Europe from Italy to France this August and so we would like to stay with locals instead of hotels. This, aside from the cost savings, will help us get the most out of our adventure by hearing about must-see sights from the people who know them best. Plus, we're less likely to get hopelessly lost when someone can tell us where to go.

To make sure I give to the Couchsurfing community as much as I get, there's a futon in my apartment that is generally open. My roommate is easygoing about people crashing there and really enjoys meeting new people also. If you sing or bring an instrument with you we'll have a nice jam session on the deck.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once went supersonic in a fighter jet. I also got to fly formation in one too.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning. That's probably why I've been in school my whole life. Whether it's rocket science or where the most overlooked ice cream shop in Ottawa can be found, I'm always interested.
I also like teaching because it's learning, but for someone else. I answer even rhetorical questions because someone might be trying to learn something from them. If I don't know the answer, I'll be stuck until I can look it up or I figure it out on my own.
