About Me

Hi :) I am David, aka “Nature Nomad”, an adventurer and environmental scientist who has traveled off the beaten paths for more than a decade. Currently, I am on the ZERO Impact Expedition to create and inspire a global community that values and engages in sustainable slow travel. As I travel once around the world without flying I just crossed the Atlantic by sailboat from Spain to Brazil. My plan is to stay some weeks in Rio de Janeiro before heading off to Antarctica.

I’m an open-minded and welcoming person who loves meeting new people and creating fun, memorable experiences.
My most valuable skills are proabably adapting easily to new environments, and being reliable and thrustworthy.

I consider time as one of our most precious gifts, as it’s the one thing we can’t get back. By choosing to host me, you’re not just sharing your space but also a bit of your time - and I truly appreciate that (how much is entirely up to you! 😊).

I’m fluent in German, English, and Spanish, thanks to having spent many years living abroad and I learn portugues right now. My favorite pastime is being outdoors, whether it’s rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, or camping. I also enjoy playing soccer, discovering great music, and diving into a good book—I make it a point to read at least one a month so there will be always an exciting topic to chat about :)

Latest books I read on the Atlantic (much time to read:D)
- ego is the enemy by Ryan Holiday
- Demon Copperhead by Barabara Kingslover
- The Armour of Light by Ken Follet
- Dumb Witness by Agathe Christie

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Books:
There are too many to list, but some of my favorites include The Pillars of the Earth and The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett, Becoming supernatural from Dr. Joe Dispenza, Comte de Monte-Cristo, Exodus by Leon Uris, anything by Paulo Coelho, the works of Jules Verne (I’ve read nearly all of them), Anything by Eckhart Tolle (Power of Now), The Lord of the Rings, and Robinson Crusoe. Honestly, the list could go on forever!

Favorite Movies:
It’s hard to pick just one, but my all-time favorites include Into the Wild (I’ve even traveled parts of his route, like Slab City), All movies from Guy Richie and Quentin Tarantino, The Lord of the Rings (I read the books before seeing the movie), The Big Lebowski, Coherence, Limitless, The Shawshank Redemption, Sleepers......

Music:
My taste spans the alphabet—from A like Arctic Monkeys to D like David Bowie, L like Len Faki to S like System of a Down, W like Wu-Tang Clan to Z like Ziggy Marley. There’s a perfect artist or band for every mood, so I won’t bore you with the entire alphabet. ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My travels have been filled with adventure and connection. I worked as a husky trainer in Estonia, crossed the Alps on foot from Germany to Italy, and sailed across the Atlantic. Driving from Miami to LA without spending on accommodation taught me resourcefulness, while diving with whale sharks in Mexico revealed nature's wonders.

I’ve traveled all Europe by train, climbed mountains in Peru, Mexico, Austria, and Germany, did a full Ironman, and visited official wonders of the world—......while discovering countless smaller ones along the way.

BUT above all, meeting kind, humble people has been the greatest lesson of all, reminding me why I love to travel.

Teach, Learn, Share

As above: Time is one of the most precious gifts we have, as it's the one resource we can never replenish. When you choose to give someone your time, you're offering them a piece of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is, in essence, your life. So, thank you for considering hosting me and sharing not just your space but also some of your time (up to you how much:))

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy sharing my stories, laughter, culture, and positive energy with you. As a passionate sports enthusiast, and former triathlet, I can also share workout routines and tips as a personal trainer. Additionally, I hosted mindful workshops and guided mindful hikes around the world, and could offer you insights from my experiences or we go on a (mindful) hike together. If you're interested in any of the languages I speak, I’d be more than happy to teach you a bit too! 😊
