About Me

I decided I didn't want to wait until I'm old to experience the world, but I'm not interested in the shallow, touristy, white bread approach that most people do. On a bicycle you move at a human pace. With an open ended schedule you discover people, things about the world and who you really are. You'll never grow if you don't take the time to live your life in the here and now, so that's what I'm doing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've joined because I'm in the planning stages of a major bicycle trip. I plan to camp but not always. What better way to meet people could there be?

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical taste is pretty wide ranging, but if it gets regular rotation on the radio I'm likely not interested. Bowie, Talking Heads, Sonic Youth, Iggy Pop and Dirty Projectors are the last 5 artists on my Spotify. Tomorrow it might be Phillip Glass, Claude Debussy, Django Reinhardt and Amy Winehouse or the Clash, Devo, Kraftwerk and the Specials.. Oh yeah, then there's Stereolab, Fila Brazilian and Brian Eno - three desert island artists in my book.

Philip K. Dick is a favourite author. So many of his books are movies. Even though it's generally not liked very much, A Scanner Darkly is my favourite. Despite the humour it's an incredibly dark movie.
