About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am searching for Shangri-la, but even if I don't find it, the fun is in the search.

ABOUT ME

I mostly travel alone or with a friend or two, though I have been on a couple of great adventure tours. After seeing 49 of the 50 U.S. states and most Canadian provinces, I decided in 2000 to concentrate on seeing the rest of the world. There's so much left to see, I hope they make some big progress in cloning--soon!

PHILOSOPHY

I am a libertarian, both in politics and philosophy, so I believe in peace, not war; persuasion, not coercion. I try to live by the Golden Rule, rather than a creed that only excludes people. I love nature, but even moreso I love seeing how people live around the world and learning about (and respecting) their cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Many kinds of movies, but especially 1930s-1940s flicks, which depended on great writing and plots rather than violence. Especially love murder and crime mysteries (anything Hitchcock), comedies ("I'm All Right, Jack"). All kinds of music, from classical to folk. Books: mostly challenging nonfiction, but if I had time I'd be reading a lot of old detective series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working at home allowed me to spend hours every day with my newborn daughter. To watch the process of learning and discovery in a young child is to witness a miracle every day.

Countries I’ve Visited
