About Me

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that life is "the most incredible nothing." (from an Alan Watts lecture).

I believe that this existence is all I have, so I'm doing my level best to wring all the joy from it I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Much of my couch surfing résumé consists of sleeping on the couches of friends.

I, however, look forward to meeting new and interesting people by occupying their couch[es].

Interests

Writing and reading, coffee and eating, nature and civilization.

Chief among my interests is creative output, as it is a reminder of the greatness humankind os capable of and staves off the gloom of our species' many mistakes. This interest is most marked in my life in the realm of fiction, in its varying forms, be it book, film, music, or video game.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies? I enjoy fictional films and documentaries alike. Among the many movies I enjoy, here a few of my absolute favorites: Blade Runner, For a Few Dollars More, Alien, and Prisoners.

Musically, my tastes cover a myriad of genres, from death metal to dream pop to drone and hardcore punk and most things between (modern country, that which is on he radio, however, is a no go for me). As above, here are a few of my favorites: M83, Pink Floyd, Gorilla Biscuits, the National, and the Black Dahlia Murder.

I'll spare the long introduction this time around and just go straight to the list: Lord of the Rings (and the Silmarillion), the Harry Potter series, the God Delusion, the Communist Manifesto (and a litany of other Marx/Hegel/Lenin/Trotsky works).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am currently in the midst of an amazing adventure. That is, I'm exploring the country and living out of a car, visiting national parks and cities I've always been keen to see.
