One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the summer of 2015 I lived for two months in a city in the north of Ethiopia. I wrote a curriculum for computing lessons to be implemented in a variety of schools for children ranging from ages 4 to 18. During this time I became fully immersed in the culture, making many lifelong friends and really began to feel a special connection with the country. Aside from teaching, I spent my evenings working in a shelter for elderly and mentally disabled people, something that truly will never leave me. Giving attention to those that had been neglected from society and seeing their willingness to participate in games and English lessons was very humbling.
