Overview
About Me
Hi my name is David. I'm 27 years old and am currently living and working in Shanghai. I recently moved out to Shanghai about 4 months ago to pursue a new and exciting life abroad.
Usually I am a very heavy sleeper. I don't require a lot of accommodations when its comes to sleeping. An open floor or couch is all I need to have a good night's rest.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am planning a trip through Southeast Asia with my friend. I will be traveling through many different cities and documenting my experience. My goal is to gain new perspective and ideas on life through my travels and people I meet along the way.
I will be documenting my trip and discussing the effects student loans and the education system have on people's lives, particularly the psychological and behavioral impacts on individuals .
To provide a backstory, I have recently graduated college now student loan payments that I must repay. I plan to travel on budget that includes student loan payments. So I plan to only spend $10 a day. Couch surfing is a great way to maximize my budget and also a great way to meet interesting people to exchange new ideas along the way.
Interests
I love music (jazz in particular). I play the drums and played couple years in college in music school. I haven't gotten to play since I moved out to Shanghai, but I hope to in the future. I also really enjoy film and movies. This trip I am taking is a extenuation of the interest in film, documentaries in particular.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I have done is moving out to Shanghai. I took the steps and made a change by myself. I moved to a new city. I am very proud of my accomplishments since arriving and have been productive while I have been here. I feel like I have finally begun living the life that I want to live. Taking a trip to Southeast Asia is a continuation of this : being more ambitious, being adventurous and trying to live life to the fullest.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am from the south so I can provide some insight into America and the American south in particular. I can share my stories of recent travels, my new life in Shanghai and an open-mindedness towards different ways of life.
