Overview
About Me
British/Irish artist and writer travelling around Japan for five weeks over March/April 2025, whilst writing a book. I will be staying in hotels for the first 2 weeks (in Fukuoka, Yufuin, Kyoto, Koyasan, and Tokyo).
For the last three weeks I'm open to coach-surfing in Hakodate, Kanazawa, Nagano, Nagoya, and back to Tokyo (followed by a few days in Seoul). I'm a quiet bookish person, with a love of history and nature. I'm very socialble but not much of a drinker or a partier. More into book shops, night walks, restaurants, and coffee shops. Love hiking in the countryside and wandering around cities.
I am Irish/British and currently live in Manhattan, the Hudson Valley, and Worcestershire (England).
I have lived in 12 countries and visited 120.
I'm not hosting at this time, but hope to again in future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love this community and have hosted many travellers myself over the years in NYC, Manila, Seoul, and London.

Lots and lots of historical non-fiction. Esp Byzantine, Islamic, Andalusian, Caucasus, Central Asia.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've swam with whale-sharks and survived a pretty freaky plane accident. Lived in Berlin as a kid before the wall fell and often visited Communist East Berlin.
