About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Current Mission: Find a mission. Long Covid and post-Covid Asthma have limited my energy.
ABOUT ME
Former Teacher and Classical Musician here. I played French Horn in a couple groups around town and am looking for stick time to get some conducting in. I coached a small group of voluntary players at my church, which was the UCC's Flagship in Cleveland.
While still in undergrad, I spent four years interning with administrative departments of the Cleveland Orchestra. I've been a security guard at the Art Museum. I worked for Cleveland Opera in the scenery warehouse. I'm pretty liberal, and enjoy sarcasm, puns and glib humor (just not at my expense).
I have been active with local urban farming initiatives and have been helping facilitate an affordable produce sale and community meal twice a month in an area with limited options for fresh food.
PHILOSOPHY
Cake for everyone!!... and yes, I know eating animals is wrong, but I'll occasionally do it anyway--especially if the demi-glace complements the fat in just the right way (or if the animal had an exceptionally stupid name).

Music, Movies, and Books
BOOKS: All the stuff they made us read in high school, with a strong affinity for Hawthorne and British Lit. David Sedaris, Kazuo Ishiguro, Blaire Tinsley... and a bunch of REALLY exciting treatises on proper 16th century ornamentation and bowing styles and crap.
MOVIES: Indies/documentaries! Don Hertzfeldt!! If you are reading this and don't know who Don Hertzfeldt is, please stop what you're doing and google/youtube him. My profile will still be here when you're done.
MUSIC: Relatively Eclectic, though heavy on the Classical. I always feel self-conscious about the classical, so am constantly asking everyone else to open my ears to what THEIR favorites are.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years ago I was at a summer conducting institute, and one of the participants had done arrangements for and traveled with Duke Ellington. He was the greatest guy, and everybody revered him greatly. We all pitched in, and I made a ton of food for a birthday party we threw him.
I'm throwing in a second amazing thing: a couple years ago, I packed myself up and took a couple days to bicycle from Cleveland to South Bend, Indiana for some annual Sacred Harp Singings...in July. It was definitely amazing. I'd think twice about doing it again, but if I could go back in time, I wouldn't stop myself from doing it the once.
