I am Sage. I'm so grateful for the journeys that have taken me.
To know this place. To grow in the sacred light of music. The more people tell me about Hawaii, even its "negative" aspects, the more attracted I become to the island life. It's a different sort of place, and I am certainly a different sort of person. I am, in a way, building a new life here.
And in the shadow of clock hands, transformative breath peddlers dance
A chorus of many-tongued truckfuls of city plumbers and activists energetic
Seeking to queer the Machine
Come burn the sage with me!, let me
You hang up the red angels of Hallows eve
Across all the hearths of the polis
The chorus gives a yawp, which sets off a thousand Western winds of rippling human dust
Never held by the root of any yucca peyote shoot
A long note, glinting off the rusty ramparts of Los Alamos
Taking ecstatic leave into oblivion
A note sounding the coming of a new race of man
Fertile in rifles and grain
A powerful jowel that moves to speak prophesies
Mind blown to smithereens on prophesy
It will all burn one day, and only the fermata of history will sustain its existence
And when it's gone
We'll all gather together
In the infra-red of the expanse of astral smolders
And prophesy until we faint from its clarity
And burn a whole field of new-grown sage
And keep alight a never-ending flame.
And sail toward the northern aurora in search of dry land
And hit the sand of a Canadian beach and
We'll build a city
I wrote the above poem while living in Chicago many years ago, and while I no longer identify so strongly with its urban urgency and angst, I feel its passion for renewal and spiritual community even stronger today.
I am now working on the modest task of uplifting all parts of my body, mind and heart and getting all those chakras rotating smoothly. I feel clarified, inspired, creative and joyful living in nature. Working the land, integrating my body with my environment, and participating in community are the best uses the body. It all starts with the body.
I am a mindful Burner, I believe in the Ten Principles as a community building blueprint.
Because somewhere along the way
I decided mud rubs
Those Grandmother medicines
The delight of spices burning
Those sapling rings and birch branch cut odor offerings
River's rushing waters flooding its banks and
Flushing tiny crag face spaces
Offer marvelous transubstantiations
Just the same
Except plentiful infinitely
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been Couchsurfing for ten years. I've hosted great new friends, learned three languages, fell in love (twice), discovered Burning Man, suffered a serious abuse, found jobs, and wrote a college thesis - all through this open and vibrant community. I've surfed accompanied by friends, lovers, parents, and bandmates, as well as plenty on my own. It's now a part of me. Migwitch.

A short thought on success: Cursed is he born on the summit of the mountain, for the man born in the valley has his choice of mountain.
