About Me
Hi! My name is David, I'm in my twenties, and I live in the United States. I grew up in an Amish family in rural Lancaster County PA, and that's still home (when I'm not traveling). I enjoy my culture and heritage, and it's played a large part in shaping who I am.
I somewhat reserved, and while I dislike surface banter or small talk, I love stories and long, deep conversations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people! New friends and new cultures/experiences add such joy to life!
Interests
I come alive in the outdoors, and spend a large portion of my free time hiking, and enjoying nature. When I travel, hiking and backpacking are usually primary focuses. However, because I enjoy cultural experiences and people, frequenting cities and historical sites are enjoyable as well.
I am passionate about social justice, and I firmly believe that we are not created to live life only for ourselves. I am only one voice, one person, but I will not be silent and I will not do nothing.
Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy "chill" music, anything from reggae to bluegrass to soft rock. Bob Dylan, Jon Foreman, CCR, Andrew Peterson.
A good novel is always in order, especially on a cold snowy winter day! Perhaps something by Michael O'Brien or George R.R. Martin
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On two different occasions, I've lived on the Greek island of Lesvos for a few months at a time, volunteering in Moria, the large refugee camp on the island. Of all the memories from my past, both the best and the most heart-wrenching were made here.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am very handy, and am happy to pitch in with small projects, or maintenance. Besides that, I can be depended upon to hold up my end of an intelligent meaningful conversation, should the occasion present itself.
