Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe in mutual respect and trust in relationships between people, which is why I have used sharing platforms like blablacar and AirBnB a lot. Nevertheless, Couchsurfing offers a far better chance to not only meet new people but get to know their attitude about life.
Interests
I love to do all kinds of sports in my free time, from football, basketball and swimming to hiking, snowboarding, and surfing. In Germany, I used to brew beer in my basement with a couple of friends. Also, I like to cook pasta (among others), eat Chinese and Indian, and hang out with friends. I'm interested in sustainability (worked at Fairphone for around a year and studied Sustainable Development in Paris), culture, politics, philosophy but also tech and many other fields; I'm the kind of guy you can have chat with about your favorite book/movie, or about your favorite football team while watching a game and having a beer, or about your desired future world order from a political and philosophical perspective - so pretty much everything.
In the past, I have traveled quite a bit and lived in many flat shares at very different places (Amsterdam, Shanghai, Paris) since I enjoy very much to meet new people from different backgrounds.

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to music, I am not very committed to specific genres, as I listen many different styles of music. However, I very enjoy music from the XX, Gramatik, Parov Stelar, Deluxe, all kinds of electro swing, funk and jazz, disco (Earth Wind & Fire) but also African music like Amadou & Mariam from Mali, or Madagascan sounds. Also, I enjoy listening to latin dancehall/raggae sounds. In terms of movies, I would say most of Tarantino's, Intouchables, Fight Club, Inception, Dr Strangelove, Badman, Matrix, and many more. At the moment, I read Naomi Klein and Faust; I love to read in general, and I read a lot of different stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I've experienced so far is probably that, when I met a Chinese very close friend of mine for the first time when I lived in Shanghai, he took me to his family's place in rural China and I had many absolutely exceptional and very fun family dinners with his parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, although I didn't speak any mandarin at that time and almost all of my hosts didn't speak english at all. It was just great to be in a situation like this in which people just understand each other, although they don't speak the same spoken or written language.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm curious about learning new things everyday.
