About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover what the world has to offer...new cultures, sights, and to create as many breathtaking moments as possible

ABOUT ME

I have had two careers (so far): a longer one in engineering and a shorter one as a patent attorney. For now however, I prefer to use my time travelling and exploring the world as much as possible to see what I have been missing. It is a lot!

PHILOSOPHY

I am politically and philosophically a libertarian. I believe in peaceful cooperation and only voluntary exchanges/interactions between people. No political force or coercion for me....life is just better and more sensible this way. I don't believe anyone owes me anything so I have to earn any consideration from others which I get.

I think that life is much more about experiences and knowledge than it is about accumulating stuff which is mostly junk. At the end of my life, I can't imagine obscessing about stuff I've owned.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, I don't have a permanent home so can't offer a couch. Therefore, I guess my only participation would be as a couchee and as perhaps a tour guide/advisor for people interested in the places I have been.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet.

Interests

I love to read especially in the areas of economics, history, and political philosophy. I also like to hike when possible and travel to places that are off the beaten track and seemed unloved by mainstream travellers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies and books that make a point and make you think. Again, political philosophy (Rothbard, Mises, Rand) history, and economics.

Very ecclectic in musical taste. 50's, 60's, 70's mainly with some others like Jesse Cook and Flamenco mixed in for spice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking in the Andes
Holding a baby Alpaca
Riding a mule out of Cola Canyon, Peru
Condor watching in Peru and Argentina
Picture taking in Canadian Rockies
Riding horses in Argentina
Drinking Malbec wine in Mendoza
Bicycling in Bariloche, Arg.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning how the world works and appreciate discussing my insight into this area. I have read almost 300 books in the past 20 years, so like to discuss many topics.
