About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live, baby.

ABOUT ME

I am an observer, watching the world flow through the lens caps of my eyes, searching for something to search for, wanting something to desire. I strive to understand and therefore remind myself often to relieve myself of judgement. I want to keep moving, keep growing, keep changing, and keep traveling as I grow older. I'm young, but don't put that against me. Already, I have shed the baby-fat-conditioning on my young mind and have begun fresh into a life full of wonder and impermanent art.

PHILOSOPHY

"What you bring to the table is what we have to share. This is the true value of art. Not to claim it, publish it, sell it, and gloat over it like a dog drools over his parcel of meat, snarling as others come near. You’ll starve your audience that way. Art is about putting what you’ve created into the open hands of your audience and asking them to simply experience this."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel. As of right now, I'm saving up for equipment for backpacking, then I might go across seas to see what different cultures I can find. My dream is to carry everything that I own on my back. For now, though, I'm paying off student loans (even after 1 year of college, I am 6 grand in debt!), and paying other 'normal-people' bills that initiates me to being a 'citizen' (whatever benefits that gives me).

Interests

Science (to question everything and see all data as compliments to theory instead of solidified belief), Music (to lose myself in the swaying of art), Writing (to dive into the characters inside me and learn what it is to be 'the other'), Drawing (to remember that the picture is made by what you can do out of your pen's mistakes), Camping (to be an animal again, close to wild, and far from cultural pretense), Drumming (to share the creation of rhythm with others), Food (to respect the death that provides me life), Yoga (to manifest myself in contorted poses like a child might), ... the list is pretty much endless.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS

Those where the characters have a full spectrum of emotion and reaction. Where the characters drive the plot and aren't just vacant observers. Where the characters are real enough to fall in love with and grieve for at the death of the novel.

MOVIES

Those that reach into the dark room of the cosmos with reaching hands and fingers. Where the plot is stretching the boundaries of nonsensical and imaginative.

MUSIC

That which skill and development come into reality sweet enough to taste. Where the artist is so moved by his or her creation that it is no longer about him or her (the name, the band, the tour, the brand of the instrument), but rather it becomes about the magic of creation and manifestation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left all that I know and love behind me in New Mexico and (with only a buddy and all that I own in the back of his car) moved to North Dakota. There, I got a job at a local Bistro, learned the art of food preparation and bar tending, and saved up expenses for an onward journey to Oregon. Here I type this bio in a room I pay rent on, patiently biding my time until the road, the trail, the waves beckon to me again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have learned so much. The tricky part of learning is to sum up what is so obvious and simple into words containing a limit of 26 English characters. Instead of writing a novel here, I would rather share, teach, learn in deep conversations around a cup of tea, or a steaming mug of coffee, or under the calm breathing sounds of the ocean, or what have you. Let's teach, learn, share together, eh?

What I Can Share with Hosts

SKILLS

Guitar (10 years experience), Philosophy (always eager to share my views on the world, and to accumulate new views!), Woodworking (I work in a lumber yard right now and grew up around my dad who was a contractor), Handyman around the house (not afraid of cleaning or fixing), Cooking (I'm just beginning to learn this art, but I have a drive for it!)

ANYTHING ELSE...

...that's mine is ours to share.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Canada, England, France, Greece, Italy, Nicaragua, Turkey
