About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to get away from the materialism running rampant in the United States and prepare to travel the world.

ABOUT ME

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon). I even served a 2 year mission for the church. While I'm no longer an active member, the 2 year mission trip to Brazil was one of the most interesting/eye opening experiences of my life. It was the experience that really allowed me to warm up to the idea of traveling the world.

I met my wife Erin while I was finishing up my conventional education in Illinois. We lived there for a few years during which I was working as a professional photographer.

After Illinois there were a few years in Ft Lauderdale, FL and a year in Kaunas, Lithuania and now Nashville, TN. We live in Nashville with our 2 dogs (Peanut and Spencer). While I still work for myself, I'm now working in product design because I enjoy the wider variety of projects I can work on. I'm the kind of guy that likes to learn a lot about a subject and then move on to something new and interesting. Product design allows me the freedom to jump around to designs in completely different fields (thus satisfying my ADHD-like curiosity).

PHILOSOPHY

Listen more than you talk because you can learn something from everyone.

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

Live in the present because you can't change the past nor can you predict the future.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've done AirBnB a zillion times, but I'm new to couch surfing. I've never been a host or a surfer. I'm thinking I'll host a few people and see what the whole couch surfing thing is like and then try it myself. I'm interested in hosting too so that I can meet people who are already traveling like I would like to (for inspiration and information).

Interests

What really makes life worth living is the experiences that we have and the people we share them with. I love getting to know people and having engaging conversations about their ideas on different topics. I enjoy photography, playing with my dogs, and relaxing while reading a good book. Oh, and I LOVE the beach.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived for 2 years in Brazil moving from place to place and living with and being fed by people that I had never met before. It was an amazing experience of which I'm only now starting to understand the significance.
