About Me

I I’m Dawid, an enthusiastic and open-minded traveler who loves meeting new people, sharing meaningful conversations, and creating memories together—whether that’s over a beer, a cup of coffee, or just a walk through the city. ☕🍻

I have a deep passion for cycling, film photography, and the simple joy of camping under the stars. Adventures on two wheels have taken me through places like the Loire Valley (450 km) and from Perpignan to Genoa (1,000 km on my Brompton folding bike). These journeys showed me that freedom doesn’t come from having more, but from needing less. Along the way, I’ve met strangers who became dear friends, and those moments have shaped who I am.

I’m also passionate about cooking and love turning a simple meal into a shared experience. Whether it’s making a Spanish tortilla, trying a new recipe, or enjoying good wine or vermouth, for me food is about connection.

Traveling, for me, is never just about places—it’s about people. It’s about the unexpected kindness, the deep conversations, and the laughter that turns into friendship.

As a host (when I can host again):

I believe in creating a warm and welcoming home where guests feel comfortable and free to be themselves. My space is small but full of heart, perfect for conversations, shared meals, and building real connections. I love hearing about different cultures, travel experiences, and all the little things that make each journey unique.

As a guest:

I bring curiosity, respect, and plenty of good vibes into any home. I adapt easily to house routines, keep things tidy, and love contributing—whether that’s cooking, sharing a laugh, or just being great company.

I don’t smoke or drink alcohol, and I enjoy a healthy lifestyle (with my last host we went running 7 miles every morning together 🏃). I’m also happy to share my love for photography or cook you something delicious while we exchange stories.

Let’s create unforgettable moments together—exploring the city, watching sunsets, enjoying deep talks, or simply laughing over dinner.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, traveling isn’t just about places—it’s about people. The most meaningful experiences come from shared stories, perspectives, and unexpected connections. Couchsurfing isn’t just a way to meet new people; it’s a way to experience the world through their eyes.

As a photographer, what I love most is capturing portraits of people, especially in black and white—those raw, unfiltered moments that tell a story beyond words.

Couchsurfing is an open door to new possibilities, where each encounter is a chance to learn, grow, and create moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎶 Music

I have a deep appreciation for music that tells a story and evokes emotions. I love Gianmarco Castro, as well as the soothing rhythms of bossa nova, especially João Gilberto. In jazz, my favorites include Nina Simone and Frank Sinatra, and I have a special love for the song “A Train to Sugar Hill.”

📖 Books

One of the books that has left a lasting impact on me is “Thinking, Fast and Slow” by Daniel Kahneman, a fascinating dive into human decision-making and psychology. I also thoroughly enjoyed “Pachinko” by Min Jin Lee, a beautifully written novel that explores identity, resilience, and family across generations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This summer I cycled solo from Perpignan to Genoa, passing through the French Riviera and even Monaco, 1000km journey on my Brompton folding bike. It was an unforgettable adventure full of challenges, kindness from strangers, and moments that reminded me how little we truly need to feel free and alive. Along the way I met many amazing people, and some of them became real friends.

Cycling solo through the Loire Valley (450 km) was one of the best experiences of my life. Along the way, I met incredible people, and one of them, Micheline, became a dear friend. Even though she lives in Belgium, we always find a way to see each other. She loves traveling by train with her husband, and we make sure our paths cross whenever possible. We spent New Year’s in London, and she recently came to Madrid to visit me. Now, it’s my turn to travel to Belgium.

⛺ A road trip across seven countries in three weeks, just me, my car, and a tent. It was an adventure filled with spontaneity, breathtaking landscapes, and a true sense of freedom. One of the most surreal moments? Standing in the main hall of the United Nations Youth Organization with the ambassador, who arranged a private visit just for me. For a moment, I truly felt important.

Traveling, for me, isn’t just about moving from one place to another—it’s about the people I meet, the connections I build, and the memories that last forever.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I bring good conversation, plenty of laughs, and a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Whether it’s sharing a bottle of wine or vermouth, playing board games, or just exchanging stories, I love creating moments that feel special.

I truly enjoy cooking together and sharing meals, turning a simple dinner into a great experience. For me, Couchsurfing is all about learning from each other, building connections, and making our time together meaningful and fun.
