I studied Anthropology and remain an academic at heart. I like exploring what influences "the human condition." I work hard at home on things I love, but when I travel, that's the only time I stop asking myself "what am I doing with my life?"

I hope to someday evolve into a charming lady who tends an array of alpacas in the Redwood forest, with a hookah lounge treehouse serving as my summer residence, and a gentlemen accordionist accompanying my simple daily routines of watering sunflowers and playing Calvinball. It's important to have dreams.

I was graciously hosted by many fine people up and down Germany and across Switzerland in the summer of 2008 and again in the spring of 2010. I also lived in Egypt for 9 months and had an open door to a lot of weary Americans and Egyptians.
I attend couch surfing events in San Francisco when I can.

I really do believe it's not just about "a free place to crash," (although who are we kidding, that's great), but about the opportunity to throw away your Lonely Planet and actually have a local invite you into their worldview.

SciFi (and Sci and Fi), physics, indigenous belief systems (esp. related to nature), backpacking, history, product design, penguins, baking, alternative medicine, gardening, having the beach make everything better, solving problems with fire, blowing my money on good cheese, smoking hookah, dancing in public and whatever else is probably similar to, but doesn't make me sound totally like, a manic pixie dream girl.
