About Me

I am a junior (third year) university student who born and raised, along with my younger sister and my dog, in Houston Texas. I am currently studying art history at the University of Texas at Austin with the goal of going to graduate school to study Middle Eastern art and then working as a museum curator. I have taken 13 years of Spanish, 2 years of Arabic, and am teaching myself French and Turkish. My life goal is to acquire enough language skills to be able to talk to and meet as many people in the world as I can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel, I like to see what life is really like in the places I visit. My favorite vacation was a week just staying with friends in an unremarkable suburb of Madrid full of normal people like me. Couchsurfing is a perfect way for me to be able to see the world on a college student budget, practice my language skills, and actually see what life in another country is like for ordinary (but fun and interesting!) people like myself.

Interests

Being outdoors as much as possible, playing, watching, or talking about any sport under the sun. Visiting cool art museums, learning new languages,

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Books: East of Eden is absolutely my favorite. Followed by Les Miserables, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and My Name is Red.

Movies: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is by far No. 1. No question. Then The Bourn series, Whiplash, Anchorman, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Music: Vampire Weekend, Jack Johnson, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Beatles.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have skied inside the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. It was nuts.

Esquié en el "Mall of the Emirates" en Dubai. Fue loco.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I'm not an expert in anything, but I will answer any question I can.
Lean: Anything and everything. Especially a new language.
Share: All that I can!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook (though that does not mean I am a good cook) and am always happy to help around the kitchen, do dishes, or make myself useful in any way possible.
