ABOUT ME

My name is Dean. In old Irish it means 'man from the valley'. I guess I like valleys, so that's something.

When I was a kid, I used to have pen-pals from around the world to write letters to (Japanese were the best, they always sent me lots of little presents!) so discovering CS was a natural extension of that fascination I've always had with sharing ideas and observing different cultures.

I'm happy meditating and doing yoga, similarly I am happy dancing all hours of the night in some underground festival in the middle of nowhere for days on end. Its all about the contrasts, it keeps you on your toes.

Facts: I work in film, (various roles) and I also work with autistic people and they constantly fascinate me.

PHILOSOPHY

I think Socrates said it best:

"The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing.."

Can't host right now, as I live in a share house and we use the sitting room as a bedroom. although I am up for hanging out in clubs, bars or visiting museums galleries or other cultural spaces.

Movies... Movies are my thing and I can talk crap about them with you all day long.
I'm not a cinema fascist, i'll watch anything, but I will moan about it later if it was bad.

I'm happy watching something deep like Tarkovsky and equally I can watch Hollywood cheese if the mood takes me. Favourite films: Dogtooth, Sunset Boulevard, Pepi Luci Bom, Exorcist, Stalker, A single Man, Vertigo, Martyrs, In the Mood for Love.. this list could go on and on.

Music is dependent on my mood. But I love Jazz, 80s and 90s cheese, Metal, Techno, hip hop, dub, classical.. the list goes on.

Books: Anything by Hunter S Thompson, Clive Barker, Tom Robbins. Vurt was engrossing!

-staying with semi-wild orangutans for a week in an orangutan conservation sanctuary in Kalimantan.

-Watching my good friend give birth- It was like something out of a sci fi film.

- Cycling around the middle east Turkey-Syria-Lebanon.
