About Me

I've travelled to 70 plus countries over 25 years, its been an amazing experience - I took time off 10 yrs ago to go to Uni and qualify as a youth worker but still did voluntary to Costa Rica with Raleigh and Borneo with World CHallenge. I live quietly love the outdoors & marmite (especially with a cuppa) I am a qualified cycling instructor for adults in the midlands, was an Ambadassor for Olympic football in Coventry in 2012 and went to the Queens Garden Party 2008 to celebrate 100 years of British Red Cross royal charter - I vounteered at rock/pop/sports concerts/events for 5 years. I swim - last 2 years have swum internationally in Turkey - 1 Peace swim 1mile to shore and other 4 mile swim Asia to Europe with 1,800 other nutters - loved it. Thats it really love outdoors, cycling, history, family history ,live music/sports, scuba diving and TRAVEL the massive love of my life and sharing time with different people in different places. Oh yeah I have a titanium forehead - no really

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have spent over 1.4 of century travelling for the vast majority on my own, often being tucked away on my own in a dusty/small space in an over priced guest house, there's also too much tent left over for 1 person so I reckon being on couchsurfing allows me more freedom to go more off the beaten trackplaces and meet the people willing to share their home and a bit of time/info on what makes their place rock. I live in a 2nd floor flat in a really green quiet place on the outskirts of a city with great access to the city, airport and rail station so I'm great as respite or handy place to come after the big cities . I like people and I'm

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't read books as I broke my head in a car accident and can't remember the plots or characters but research articles and historical places andfacts every day of the year really just out of curiousity and for research for tour group work.

Movies - I love Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, Harold & Maud, Finding Neverland, The Help, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, 4 Weddings - I watched it in a Chinese theatre in Hong Kong hilarious, Th e Original Star Wars, JFK, An Education oh those are just ones I remember - loved Raiders of the Lost Ark

Music see above love it live not rap though rock, bit of classical, good old guitar bands Stereophonics, Crowded House, 80's Electronica, Florence, new wave of guitar indie bands - no plastic tv pop or ballads - well at a push. I dont haveplay lists or head phones just enjoywhat comes up

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba dived with hammerhead sharks 30 metres down in an amazing blue back drop 30 minutes off the shore of the Egyptian Red Sea coast nearly onemorning - I will never ever forget how time stood still watching 2 creatures glide by - absolutely mesmerising and magic.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach people that they are entitled to participate fully in all lifes opportunities.

Learn that you never know enough, there's always another way to do the thing the seems impossible and when you to share your problems not keep them to yourself - I'm still working on that one

Share your enthusiasm, love of life and curiosity you never know how much fun/reward it will bring. Share what you don't have yet the person you tell may provide th eway forward

What I Can Share with Hosts

A cuppa, travel stories, cycle ride - possibly even teach them from complete beginner upward, a bit of philosophy about life, interests in historical /sportin events - courteousy to fellow hosts - and of course my Marmite. I don't play the guitar or sing but I can juggle.
