Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm hoping to travel and explore more, and I would love to meet people along the way. I've heard so much about couch surfing and love the idea of meeting locals while traveling, and sharing ideas and experiences.

Interests

Anything outdoors, especially trail running, hiking, skiing, biking. I also like watching indie films, cooking, listening to live music, going to festivals, exploring new places and meeting new people. I'm also pretty dedicated to my yoga practice, and I worked at a yoga retreat center a few years ago.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a volunteer in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. I worked with a grassroots animal rescue organization in the heart of the disaster and have tons of stories to share about this experience. I started with a two-week leave from work and ended up staying for 6 months. It was a life-changing time for me and has helped me to appreciate life in such a new way.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a professional writer, so I'd be happy to brainstorm and talk about writing. I'm passionate about yoga and trail running, and happy to teach yoga or share time on the trails. I was also a competitive figure skater and downhill skier when I was younger, and I'd be happy to give lessons. Also, I've worked dozens of jobs, from being a facilitator for challenge courses and teambuilding to writing for a newspaper and producing large-scale events. Not sure if there's much to share or teach from these... but maybe? I'd really enjoy skiing more in the backcountry, so it would be great to find a backcountry expert to lead the way.
