About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become a better human being every year of my life.

ABOUT ME

I have been immersed in putting together an itinerary over the last few days and will come back to my profile to fill out more here after I've re-energized! I can say that I am astonished to have reached middle-age so quickly, especially as I still feel so young in spirit. I have come to value every moment of life there is still left to live, and hope to never stop learning.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life in order to be useful to myself and others. My purpose is to make a positive difference and leave the world a better place. This is not always an easy path, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At this time I'm involved with a small caring circle helping a good friend who suffered a serious brain injury in January. I try to participate in all areas of life by showing up, staying present, and watching out for opportunities to help others, when it is pleasant as well as when it is difficult to do so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Absolutely none so far!

Interests

Music, dance, creative writing, and spiritual practices of all kinds. I have also been involved in teaching both children and adults with autism or other learning challenges, and hope to be able to continue this work throughout my lifetime.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love world music of all kinds, and movies that are intelligently written, directed, and acted. I like books that grow new synapses in the brain (actually that's true for the music and movies too!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing experience of my life was meeting the Dalai Lama in India in 1979. My life was forever changed by this and related subsequent experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I instructed adults in classical Buddhist studies and computers for many years, and taught reading, comprehension, and math to kids and adults with learning challenges. I've also taught guitar and piano to kids. I believe in learning from everyone I meet, so my interests there are wide open!
