Hi, it’s nice to meet you! My name is Declan. 👋😃. I’m a spontaneous person and when not at work, I enjoy sports, such as AFL (that’s Aussie rules football), basketball, cricket and rugby. I like to keep fit with a preference for running, cycling, swimming and gym. I also enjoy a movie or interesting documentary and love to spend time at the beach like most Australians. Other than these relatively benign hobbies going out with friends drinking and partying often consume my weekends. My favourite time of the year would have to be Christmas, it’s when our office closes and I pursue my favourite past time, travelling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m here to meet new people and experience different cultures. I hope those I encounter are in it for the right reasons too and not just a free ride. In my experiences, travelling, it’s often the people which make it great and I thought it would be an opportunity to bring travel to me in my everyday life by opening my home to diverse and interesting like minded people.

I’d love to learn a new language however most of my education is spent furthering my career in finance. I provide financial advice for a living and have a passion for the industry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy to cook - typically simple meals to keep things easy to clean. But! I’d be more than happy happy to take you to a restaurant and buy you a good meal and beers/drinks. For some reason I always keep on top of the news and enjoy discussing current world issues. It would be a pleasure to share the good stories that I continue to accumulate through my travelling adventures (hostels can provide some great ones). I also enjoy to have a good laugh, think I have a good sense of humour and we can always share a drink together.
