Self-exiled to this city of creatives, eccentrics, freaks and sinners, my partner in crime and I have been living in Berlin for nearly five years. For acolytes of this concrete funfair, Berlin is a paradise all of its own; the itching distraction of the city's rebel heartbeat and the stern bureaucracy of the German state are its only downfalls. If you're looking for interesting or wild stories, don't hesitate to scour our loot box.
Mars (like the god of war) and I are a pair of modest writers. I write about deviant women for VICE as well as blogging about the next generation of music producers, filmmakers and actors for a local creative production school. Mars is a game journalist and all-out nerd, penning reviews and interviews for the leading Czech gaming publications. Regardless, we don't care too much for small talk; we will welcome you as if an old friend or fellow outcast to walk together into the deep - or wander, beer in hand, these fabled streets. Fuck all landmarks you can see in a picture; our points of interest are not the kind you read about in a generic travel guide.
Cultists of consciousness, we are fascinated by the mind, psychology, philosophy and psychedelics. We are passionate about all musical genres - except for the brown noise that is modern commercial radio. Mixing XL party spirit with a penchant for darkness, we are both techno DJs. Ever on the search for new experiences, we also love to travel and meet new people - universe permitting.
Generally, we are only able to host on weekends (a night or two) but we're much more flexible with meeting up. Strictly no pineapple pizza; we aren't that depraved ;D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
“Admit it. You aren’t like them. You’re not even close. You may occasionally dress yourself up as one of them, watch the same mindless television shows as they do, maybe even eat the same fast food sometimes. But it seems that the more you try to fit in, the more you feel like an outsider, watching the “normal people” as they go about their automatic existences. For every time you say club passwords like “Have a nice day” and “Weather’s awful today, eh?”, you yearn inside to say forbidden things like “Tell me something that makes you cry” or “What do you think deja vu is for?”. Face it, you even want to talk to that girl in the elevator. But what if that girl in the elevator (and the balding man who walks past your cubicle at work) are thinking the same thing? Who knows what you might learn from taking a chance on conversation with a stranger? Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. Nobody comes into your life by mere coincidence. Trust your instincts. Do the unexpected. Find the others…” - Timothy Leary

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Clutched onto a metaphorical table leg in the hurricane of ups and downs that is existing in this city.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to trade my writing skills with people making or teaching great things. In exchange for creating super-original about page texts, I have received handmade clothes, haircuts, coaching and more. Who needs currency when there are valuable creative connections to be made? Check out my website: deecunning.com.
Anything goes: if you've got nothing to offer apart from good company, we won't kick you out ;)
