About Me

I only check this app every few days so I’m much more likely to say yes to sits if you ask a few days in advance and I see it in time! :)

*** Updated April 2022 : Have just reopened this app after a 2 year break due to covid. My spare room has changed a fair bit from the photos - I can still offer a private room, but the bed is a pull out couch, so not as comfy as the previous bed was! I’ll get updated photos on here soon. I still haven’t entirely worked out how I’m going to factor in covid risk with Couchsurfing (given close contact rules), and I’d prefer to host vaccinated people, but 100% do not want to check this! - so just take it as given that if you are not vaccinated our personalities probably won’t be the best of matches.

I’m currently obsessed with ice hockey, but my other interests include linocut printing, hiking, reading, traveling and euro boardgames.
I'm vegitarian, and don’t want meat cooked at home, but have no problems if surfers would like to have meat take out here.
I really want people visiting Perth to have a great time here, and love nothing more than helping people have a great experience.
I prefer to host females or couples (prior positive references definitely a helpful factor). LGBTI welcome.

I have 2 cats so please only request a stay if you like cats and are not allergic.

When hosting I usually invite surfers along when I'm off to the beach, local markets, coffee strip or just a glass of wine at home, but there are some weeks when I'm absolutely chocka-block with work, sport or social engagements and I won't be able to spend a lot of time with surfers (I'll still do my best to make you feel welcome!).

My preferred timeframe for surfers to request is anything 3 days and less. Please request to stay through the couch surfing website or app with select dates. Please read the house rules below before requesting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When in Perth, getting to host surfers lets me meet nice travelers and feel like a traveler again for awhile. When traveling, getting to meet people and get tips and advice from locals is awesome. Free accomadation is also certainly helpful for a budget! :P

I live in a great suburb that is 13 min by train to Perth and is near a good bus connection.

I can offer a pull out bed in my spare room, use of the bathroom, laundry, kitchen, living room and wifi.

I'm happy for surfers to just crash and rest for a few days or to be out and about everyday. I prefer surfers to be fairly self sufficient.

House rules:
1) Please respect my house and leave it in the state in which you found it (make sure to lock all doors if you are the last one out).
2) I'm generally happy to share food if surfers ask first and replace anything they finish.
3) No smoking inside.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mainly listen to podcasts now, so haven’t listened to music in ages. I like films that have a bit of depth, or darker comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam with wild dolphins on a Rottnest beach (and then had a grin from ear to ear for hours).

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a fair bit about the WA environment and regional areas. Happy to share this knowledge.
I do work full time so will not be able to show people around on weekdays, but happy to provide ideas for good things to check out.

Free tip: If you are visiting Perth and want to go to Rottnest, the half price day for ferries is Tuesday. Hiring a bike for the day is a really good way to get around (can be done via the ferry or on the island) and if possible I would avoid going on the school holidays.

If you are traveling and just want some suggestions on Perth or Western Australia I'm very happy to help, and have travelled to a lot of the state.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook (but I only know vegitarian recipes), weed gardens, feed pets, do dishes, generally help out. :)
