ABOUT ME

The first time I wrote in this section (15 months ago) I said that I am nearly finished my PhD and I think to do a Postdoc would be taking the p1$$. Now in 2010 I can report that I have finished my PhD and I most certainly have taken the p1$$...I have here working as a Postdoc in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and it's so far so good! I was absolutely terrified coming here but I couldnt be happier at the moment. I have already made some great friends, there has been no stroms, I havent become obese and the possibilities for fun seem endless!
I have done a good bit of travelling around Europe and the US and in the past I have chosen cheap hotels or nice hostels. But last Summer I have came to realise that I was missing out big time and now its CS all the way!
I love having fun and having a laugh-there is nothing better than a good chuckle. I am going to live up to the Irish stereotype here and say that I love to go out, have a few drinks, have the craic with friends and get up to some funny antics where ever possible. But I also love just sitting in and relaxing and enjoying good company.
Loves: Musicals, singing and jigging around on stage. Guys and dolls, we are all just a bunch of guys and dolls in the end arent we?
Hates: thunder and lightning. One of the reasons why my move to Louisiana scares me.
Loves: Formally metal and rock and roll. Last 2 concerts were RATM, Biffy Clyro and Eric Clapton. Now Im moving towards Country! Jason Aldean and lady Antebellum being my faves!
Hates: Balloons
Loves: Travel, the randomer the place the better
I'm famous, did you know?: I have been on Irish TV twice. Once as the Sport Scientist on a Fitness show and then as an extra in a cheesy cop show.

PHILOSOPHY

To say I would like to insipre people is egotistical and grandeoise, but I would like to excite people and make them enthusiastic about certain things. I am enthusiastic about so many things, mundane things even more so!

I host and have been hosted. I try and bring my visitors to do stuff that they want to do but also the normal stuff that I do.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed in a few CS places on my travels last Summer and had a great time learning about the locality and finding out about places that regular tourists may not find. I arriving feeling like a friend of a friend or a distant relation but left feeling like a local!
