About Me
CURRENT MISSION
We are Christ followers... which explains that our mission in CouchSurfing is to glorify Him through serving others. That choice has made for an unpredictable and exciting life together.
ABOUT US
Both of us are retired US Navy now in the Empty Nest season of life, which gives us the chance to share life with others through the gifts God has blessed us with. We have hosted international students (ages 15-22) in our home regularly since 1992. Others might describe us as a couple who is fun to be with, enjoy meeting new people, are good hosts and love to travel.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our hope is to extend to others the love and grace that God has shown us. The wisdom from the Apostle John explains it well, "We love because God first loved us."
Practically, this plays out in a variety of ways. In our current work, we help men and women understand God's plan for marriage and family. In western culture, doing this causes us to bump into people whose stories and experiences are very different from ours... which is good because it gets us talking about what's important in life. Along the way we may get the chance to learn about life from a different perspective and help others do the same. Will we always agree with another perspective? Probably not. If we did, all our conversations would be short.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW WE PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are available to host 2 people in our home for a two night stay.
OUR COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCES
We heard about CouchSurfing while on a mission trip to Rwanda 2012. There we met a couple from Arkansas that had been CouchSurfing around the world for nearly a year. We have hosted several interesting people and find this to be a great way to serve others who are traveling through our city. The highlight of our trip to Europe in 2013 was CouchSurfing.
Interests
Investing in people makes life interesting.
JEANNE: When not working or traveling, I keep busy with my photography business (www.forhisglory.photography). My bucket list includes trying to get to as many National Parks as possible.
DEMPSEY: Besides my ministry work, I enjoy playing with computers and all sorts of gadgets, watching sports (GO NAVY) and reading. My bucket list includes trying to get to as many Baseball Parks as possible.
We both enjoy hanging out with our grown/married kids and grand-kids! We share a love for bike riding, traveling, and mentoring newlyweds.
