I'll offer you a brief intro in order to not bore you with an excessively long bio. I'm part of a complex socio-cultural and genetic mix: Canadian, American, Spanish, Dominican, Taiwanese... Mormon, Catholic, Jewish, Arabic... Atheist, Agnostic...
I'm gay and divorced and I work in Toronto as a tour guide, editor, tutor, and English/Spanish instructor... I love dogs and I have a chihuahua son...
My interests are quite diverse... sports, nature, movies, wine, world cuisines, philosophy, politics, and I love music as well as clubbing.
PHILOSOPHY
In Plato's allegory of the caves, some slaves were chained inside a cave and all they ever saw were the shadowy patterns on the cave walls projected from the fire in the cave. To them, those silhouettes represented the 'real world' and they feared leaving the cave to see the actual world. In my view, a lot of hatred and animosity in this world are due to this phenomenon of ignorance. Many people are convinced that what they know is the truth, and yet if they left their caves and saw the 'other' world they would probably cease to behave or think the way they do.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Through CS.ORG I have met mostly wonderful and exciting people I would have never met by staying in hotels and by visiting tourist traps!
Unfortunately, there are also a few members on here who are either using this site as a free or inexpensive form of accommodation and some hosts who seem to be using this site as a dating-website!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first CS experience was with GERDA in St. Denis, Paris.
It was so WONDERFUL... I will never forget how positive the experience was.
THANK YOU GERDA!!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm a world class political junkie!!! Not only do I read THE ECONOMIST every week to learn about every issue arising from every corner of the world, but I actually stay up watching election returns from Spain, the USA, Canada, France, the UK, Germany, Australia, Italy, Israel, Japan, and Taiwan. I care about what kind of government is chosen because the world is a pond of elliptical waves... one stone dropping will have ripple effects on all other parts of the world. What amazes me is how a people will write its own history!
AMAZING!!! Gay marriage in the UK was advanced and made a reality by Tory PM David Cameron (the conservative Tory PM).
AMAZING!!! Habemus papam!!! The new pope is Spanish speaking from Latin America!!! He has kissed and washed the feet of men in AIDS hospices... why can't he go a step further and approve of same-sex love???
Teach, Learn, Share
By all means, let's learn from each other!!! I can't wait to sit down with my new couchsurfing friends with a glass of wine in hand... and share knowledge and skills with each other!
