About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Dance, when you're broken open....Dance when you're perfectly free.
ABOUT ME
Sophia (as told by Tom): Sophia is sincere enough that she really doesn't get how sickly sweet and super cheesy couples doing each others profiles is. Don't hold that against her, she's really very nice and funny once you get to know her.
Tom (as told by Sophia): Tom is both cheesy and sarcastic. He loves to make people laugh, but he's also an introvert. He likes a good non-serious argument, especially about history (particularly military, technological, and/or Russian). His hobbies include woodcarving, homebrewing, and calculating statistics.
PHILOSOPHY
Sophia: Love God, love people. You have to take care of yourself and have a little fun in order to be able to take care of other people. Truth is more than the sum of facts. Also, the using the Pomodoro method for work productivity and unfuckyourhabitat.tumblr.com has revolutionized my life.
Tom: Just try to accept the way things are and get on with doing the other things so that life can happen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We've hosted a little bit, been hosted quite a bit whilst living in Europe, and are hoping to host some more now that we have a house to share again.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've hosted a few surfers, gotten dinner and drinks with a few others, and surfed around Europe and met some great new friends. We try to go to the Dayton CS meetings when they happen (which is rarely).
Interests
We perform in improv comedy troupes, which spills over into the dorky world of table-top roleplaying. We also occasionally homebrew.
Sophia: I read a lot, mostly fantasy and sci-fi, and keep my hands busy with knitting. I'm always in search of the perfect tiramisu.

Tom: Favorite author is Douglas Adams.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sophia: The sunset over the mountains in northern Kenya. As a friend said, "It looks like God cheated with Photoshop."
Tom: I once burned all the hair off my knuckles with a homemade pyrotechnic effect. It was still very pretty.
Teach, Learn, Share
Sophia can teach: knitting, improv comedy, basic computational ecology.
Sophia wants to learn: Perl, ASL, German, and Korean.
Tom can teach: math, physics, heat transfer, etc.
Would like to learn: Pretty much everything else.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We always like to cook dinner for our hosts. It's fun to share a bit of our culture and food, as well as learning about yours. And if we go out to a pub, we will of course buy you a drink.
