Hello future friends! My name is Derek and I am going on an open ended trip around the world with my best friend from high school. I played football in college and got my degree while almost becoming a professional athlete. Once those dreams were put to rest, I decided to save up money to travel and learn about different people in different places. I have grown up in the bubble that is southern California and have never really left or had time to learn about different cultures first hand.

I would love to learn couchsurfing in order to meet the real people in the places that I travel to. Listening to you all share your knowledge and experiences is what really makes me want to travel.

Intereses

Growing up in Southern California has given me the greatest backyard a kid could ask for which is the ocean. I grew up surfing and skating all day every day with my friends and family. Spearfishing is another one of my favorite activities as I can eat exactly what I catch in order to help sustain life in our oceans. Once I finished playing American Football, I started to climb and fell in love. Camping under the stars and climbing all day on some beautiful granite is an experience that I cannot compare.
