ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Jeroen and live in the north of Holland with my lovely girlfriend Jet and our two year old son. I have just found out about this couch surfing community and look forward to meet some new and interesting people. I have pursued many interests in life but tend to hop from one to another and then back again, so I finish few things completely (studies, books even movies).

PHILOSOPHY

Still not settled on one. I moved from Descartes to Hegel to Lacan to nowhere.

I love the (almost) all books of Neil Stephenson.
I am also very fond of the fifties Dutch children's book series "De Bob Evers serie".
I listen mostly to '60 and '70 music: Crosby Still's Nash and Young, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I always find it amazing to see the Foucault Pendulum. I recently saw a very nice one in the CosmoCaixa science museum in Barcelona: with every degree that the earth turns it knocks over a small metal pole. A beautiful experience of the world turning.

Teach, Learn, Share

I recently saw a neurological/philosophical documentary where the following expiriment was done:
A test person was asked to choose between pressing a button in his right hand and one in his left hand. The researches were analysing the brain activity and could determine what button would be pressed 6 seconds before the test person made the conscious choice... Mmm some food for thought.
