Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Desi – Bekasi’s finest (self-proclaimed) explorer on a budget!
I can’t host (unless you want to sleep standing in my office), but I’m totally up for meeting, grabbing coffee, sharing travel horror stories, or helping you not get lost in Bekasi (no promises though 😅).
By day, I work full-time like a responsible adult. By vacation days, I transform into a suitcase-dragging, photo-snapping tourist, squeezing in two trips a year—abroad or domestic, depending on how kind my wallet is feeling.
I love meeting fellow travelers and hearing about your adventures—bonus points if they involve missed flights, lost-in-translation moments, or epic street food finds.
Let’s meet up, swap stories, and maybe figure out if we were meant to be best friends in another travel dimension!
PHILOSOPHY
- It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
- You are still young. Free... do yourself a favor. before it's too late, without thinking too much about it first, pack a pillow and a blanket and see as much of the world as you can. you will not regret it. one day it will be too late --- The Namesake
- To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries --- Aldous L. Huxley
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of my favorite things about CS is meeting amazing people from all over the world—each with their own unique vibes, accents, weird snack preferences, and unforgettable stories. It’s like collecting human postcards, but way cooler!
Interests
I’m always up for hearing your stories—whether they’re hilarious, awkward, heartwarming, totally chaotic, or just “this didn’t kill me, but it almost did” kind of tales. As long as you're still alive to tell it, I’m all ears! 😄

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies
When I’m not traveling, I’m usually watching movies that hit you right in the feels—especially ones based on true stories. I love how they show the raw, unfiltered side of life you can actually learn from. Of course, I won’t say no to a good comedy or a cheesy romance (don’t judge me 😂). And yes, I’m a fan of superhero madness—Deadpool, Spidey, Justice League... basically anyone in a cool costume with emotional issues.
Film festivals? Say less. Strong stories and deep characters are my cinematic love language.

Music
When I’m not planning my next getaway or binge-watching movies, you’ll probably catch me vibing to music that lifts the spirit. I love lyrics that speak life into your soul—like “Superheroes” by The Script, “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction (don’t act like you don’t sing along), and the warm fuzziness of “You’ve Got a Friend” by McFly. Instant mood boosters!
On the flip side, I have a soft spot for instrumental music. There’s just something so calming about the sound of a violin, classical guitar, or piano. One of my favorite discoveries ever was Shohei Yamaki, an insanely talented guitarist I stumbled upon at the Java Jazz Festival in 2014. That guy played like his fingers had magical powers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh, and fun fact: I ran the Tokyo Marathon 2024 and survived! 🏃♀️💨 I crossed the finish line in 6 hours and 13 minutes—which, yes, is longer than most Netflix marathons, but hey, I did it!
Still can’t believe my legs cooperated the whole way (shoutout to adrenaline, snacks, and sheer stubbornness). It was wild, emotional, and slightly painful—but totally worth it!

What I Can Share with Hosts
Staying with locals when I travel? Total jackpot. It's like stepping into real life Netflix—but way better because there's food, hugs, and no monthly subscription fee.
I’ve had the joy of staying with locals a few times now, and honestly, nothing beats it. You get front-row seats to everyday life, warm hospitality that makes you feel like part of the family, and sometimes even the honor of learning how to properly eat something you’ve been doing wrong your whole life.
I’m also a big fan of good conversations—the kind that go from “what’s your favorite movie?” to “so how’s the political situation in your country?” in under 5 minutes. Traditions, lifestyles, weird habits, conspiracy theories about why pineapple on pizza is a thing—I’m here for it all. Swapping perspectives with people from around the world? Honestly, it’s one of my favorite travel souvenirs.
