ABOUT ME

I'm a freelance writer focused on travel and arts/entertainment, especially movies and music -- I'd also love to write more about history and sports. I can be kind of shy or quiet sometimes, but I love meeting new people and when I travel I really come out of my shell. I love movies, hockey, trying new foods(though I'm not sure my palate is "refined" enough to call myself a foodie...) and getting outdoors.

What else? I think I'm pretty laid-back most of the time. I often feel torn between wanting to travel and wanting to settle down and make a real home for myself surrounded by friends and family...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to do a lot of hosting when I was in the UK and Ottawa, but these days I don't really have a home to host from! I'd still like to meet other CSers on the road, though, and maybe surf more often than I have in the past. When I do have a couch again, I'd love to get back to hosting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfers were four American college students on spring break, and it was really fun to host them! We found a good balance between me showing them around and them sometimes going off to do their own thing, and on their last night I took them out for a night at Durham's finest establishments... It was definitely a good experience!
