About Me

I'm finishing up my last year in undergrad as an Environmental Geology and Evolutionary Biology dual major at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
There's a lot of words there, but it boils down to a degree in which I have focused my attention to the science of the natural world and human interaction with it.

I am studying to pursue a career in Conservation Biology because I have a large passion to study bats, who are very important for the ecosystem and need some more support and love :)

While my education does include a lot of science, I am really thankful for my mother and sister who have grounded me in the humanities. They are both artists: my mother is a street photographer and my sister has studied culinary arts and journalism. They have both taught me the power of story telling through words and pictures and I would love to incorporate storytelling with science to help non-scientists feel more connected to our world!

PHILOSOPHY

Happiness feeds the soul of the world. It is designed for us all, but it is up to you to seek and pursue your own joy and help others find their way when they get lost, because we all do from time to time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people to get a better insight on all the different ways to view the world. Everyone looks through the world through their own lens and there is no right or wrong way to it- just different. I think couchsurfing is a brilliant way for people to share their insight and learn from one another.

Staying with locals is the best way to travel ;)

Interests

I love to rock climb, yoga, travel, meet new people, and discuss life, love and science.

And bats.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo is a simple and profound book that I hold very dear to my heart.

I read sci-fi fantasy, historical fiction (mainly Ken Follett), and nature books (Diane Ackerman is amazing) as well as a lot of classics with my favorites being 1984 and The Grapes of Wrath.

The Princess Bride, Spirited Away, and Wes Anderson movies are my all-time favorites.

Right now I've been listening to an odd collection of The Strokes, Devandra Banhart, Jack White, Tallest Man on Earth, Beach House, and Odesza.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently, I was lucky to stand on the top of an outlet glacier in Iceland. It is so much more than just ice and snow, and this event felt like a rite of passage for me as a geoscientist. I really felt what I had been learning in undergraduate really come together through this incredible experience. My group was able to hike through a crack in the ice, which is really rare and absolutely mind-blowing to see how different ice can look and feel and on such a crazy large scale it can be.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a lot about random facts in biology and geology, especially bats :)
