ABOUT ME

I love living in West Africa. The heat and the dust can't get me down! I've spent much of the last four years in Bamako (with a sojourn in Northern Cameroon as well). The best part of the day is at 5 PM, as the air turns cooler. I head to the market to fix dinner from local produce, hang out with my neighbors, and listen to wonderful Malian music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climb to the top of the hill in my neighborhood of Bamako, and it looks like you are in rural Mali: banco houses, unpaved roads, women carrying pounds of firewood home. Yet the view shows you the vast city of Bamako, spreading out across the Niger river plain. Its a lovely contrast!
