About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a thoughtful, adventurous nerd. I also make awkward jokes and edible food in good company.

Occasionally I play life in developer mode, which doesn't make anything easier.

If you can bear a wry sense of humor, I might be a fun person to hang out with.

PHILOSOPHY

"The only thing we know about the future is that it is going to be different." -Peter F. Drucker

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

2009: Edinburgh-Glasgow-Dublin-London.

Set out with a friend to participate in 'a couple universities' open days', with semi-serious intentions. Well, to be honest, we managed to attend one.

We traveled for two weeks through the UK and Ireland, mostly at whim and with somewhat short notice hosts. The trip was an adventure and the people we met were incredibly nice.

Interests

Meeting new amazing people, new scenes, new experiences. You never really know who you're going to meet next or where you'll end up; that's the wonder of happenstance.

I'm out to try things fun and interesting, and I'm always down for an adventure.

Things that (almost) always work out: Cooking, drawing or doodling, dancing. Idle conversations about ducks.

If that sounds boring to do alone, well, it occasionally is. However, it's always a blast in good company. That hopefully means you and your friends :)

I'm into incessant learning. I'm driven by a passion to learn anything and everything, even about ducks. Were it from brain cells to giraffes, I still haven't found the final limit. Some day I'll maybe learn something (also other people might find) interesting and insightful, maybe even useful, and make a difference.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to an endless stream of artists ranging from one end to another, from underground dance music to modern classical to experimental progressive math-funk-rock, post-rock to reggae and beyond. Then I listen to a bunch of normal people music too.

The Album Leaf, Balmorhea, Dream Theater, Modest Mouse, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Beatles, various dj sets.

Books. Books. Books. Wikipedia. Always wish I could read more. For a few years it's all been more or less the deep end and serious side of the library.

Teach, Learn, Share

There's a lot to learn, and even more to share. Dialogue enriches everyone.

I can readily impart largely impractical arcane wisdom and vocabulary on things that don't matter.
