About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a very positive outgoing Irish guy who loves life, loves travelling, loves meeting new people and loves having new experiences. Where ever I travel, I really like to experience the local culture and not the packaged sanitised version of the culture that you get in tourist resorts. I like to travel independently and never book package deals. I've visited many countries over the years but have never for more than a couple of weeks at a time so after 20 years of work, I've decided to finally fulfill my desire to travel and have left my job and will be travelling around the world for the next number of months. I've just come back from an amazing 6 weeks in India which I fell in love with from the moment I landed.

Interests

I love to travel, to meet new people and experience new cultures. I'm at my happiest when I'm embarking on a new travel adventure. Music is a huge passion of mine and I have a wide and eclectic taste. I go to as many gigs as I can and get a great thrill from discovering new bands. When I'm giving presents, I love to give the gift of music as a new band or album can be a gift for life. My favourite way to spend my time is going to music festivals of which there are a fantastic selection in the U.K. - there's nothing that beats a weekend camping with your friends, listening to music, meeting new people and having the sort of amazing experience that such a tribal gathering can give. I've love percussion and play high surdo in a community samba band in Cambridge - we play a number of gigs every month at events ranging from weddings, to festivals, to charity events. I love keeping fit and do so by swimming, gyming and cycling everywhere - I don't own a car which gives me no excuse even when it's tipping down with rain.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most spectacular event I've ever witnessed was the total eclipse of the sun which I saw with my brother on the Black Sea coast in Romania in 1999 - it was a breathtaking sight and must have induced such fear and awe in ancient peoples.
